# Quickstart - Stenoob Lab

Your **Pro keyboard** is fully compatible with **Stenoob Lab:** a free, browser-based practice tool designed to help you get started with steno.

### 1. Getting Started

* Open [Stenoob Lab](https://lab.stenoob.com) in **Google Chrome** (Mac and Windows supported).
* Plug in your **Stenoob Pro** keyboard.
* That’s it! Stenoob Lab is completely plug-and-play — no software installation required.

### Using Stenoob Lab

#### Layout Overview

* **Paper Tape (right side):** shows your raw steno strokes.
* **Editor (left side):** displays translations.

#### Saving & Clearing

* Work is saved automatically in your **browser (local storage)**.
* Data remains even after you close the page.
* To clear your session:
  * Use **Clear Editor** or **Clear Tape** in the menu.
  * Recommended on shared/public computers.

#### Customization

* **Font Size:** adjust tape and editor font size with the sliders.
* **Reset UI:** restore default interface settings.
* **Paper Tape-Only Mode:** hide the editor and center the tape for focused practice.

#### Dictionaries

* Comes with a built-in starter dictionary.
* You can upload your own in **`.json`** or **`.rtf`** format.

#### Compatibility

* **Supported:** Stenoob Pro 3 and Pro 4.
* **Not supported:** Pro, Pro 2, or Pro +.
